A Sweet Send Off From Stetson Alumnae

Samantha O'HareComment

Congrats to the Class of 2018!

Newly minted Stetson Alum mingled with the incoming class of freshman at the Alumnae House this past weekend.  Stories were exchanged, advice was given and we were there doling out both ice cream and cotton candy. Being a part (even if small) of the major milestones for our clients never gets old!

Edible Orlando Takes Notice

Thank you to Heather McPherson for profiling our start up in the Fall 2016 issue!

If you have only been to Orlando for the parks, you may not know what a die hard foodie city Orlando is.  The Orlando foodie is an adventurous, local-loving, social media scouring diviner of the best in fresh and fun eats.  Years of sitting in traffic commuting (we have one of the worst highways in the nation running right through our city center), and standing in line in the sticky heat at the parks have trained us to be patient for the right payout.

You won't see Orlandoans running to the newest restaurants or attractions the second a billboard goes up. We will wait to see what the best dish is at a new spot. Any one of our excellent entertainment writers will give us the highlights before spending our hard earned dollars on what might be just one more novelty trying a little too hard and charging a little too much. Food doesn't have to be fancy here. The food has to be the BEST in its class to survive.

Being featured in the Fall issue of The Orlando Sentinel's Food magazine is an honor that will definitely be going up on the office wall. It's also an affirmation of all the work we are putting into creating the new standard in cotton candy.

Excited to see what confection we will tackle next? Stay tuned.

Cotton Candy Champagne!

Samantha O'HareComment

Flavor your bubbles with our naturally infused cotton candy clouds!

Did you know that most "gourmet" cotton candy is made using dextrose based powders? Dextrose is a thickening agent (made from the sugar in corn) used commercially in all kinds of food from sauces to marinades and jellies. While these powders are fine to consume, adding them to liquid won't do much in the flavor department. (Plus the texture isn't our fav).

There is a better way! The organic extracts in our candy keep it fluffy and soft. Great for photos and flavor! Use a little, or use a lot with any beverage for some extra wow on any occasion

Our Champagne Kit includes a fun mix of Lemon, Zesty Orange, Lavender, Peppermint, Cinnamon and Vanilla. Each container has enough fluff for 6-10 glasses depending on how intense your sweet tooth is!

Let the kiddos in on the fun by pouring sparkling water, or lemon-lime soda over the candy. They will love your forever! least until it's time for seconds!

Upgrade your chilled glass with a quick dip in chocolate and garnish with cotton candy!

B's Coachella Birthday!

Sweet Vibes & Good Times

I'm not sure what kind of parties you all had when you were 10, but this party may be my favorite of the year so far! Guests lounged inside white teepees, listening to live music, sipping on pink lemonade, and of devouring lavender-vanilla cotton candy swirls. Don't even get me started on those costumes!

The bright and soft pastel shades mixed with wood and leather could easily be elevated for any summer soiree. Take a look at a few of the photos we snapped and get inspired!

Happy Birthday B! Thank you for having us!

What Makes It Gourmet?

Samantha O'HareComment

Elevating Your Indulgence

GOURMET-  Hipster grocery stores, natural goods shops, and farmers markets are busting with products sporting the word.  Gourmet everything is available now from ice cream to maple syrup. What the heck does it mean, and is it really worth the price bump?

Now we can't speak for everyone, but the best gourmet products we have found elevate the flavor of foods that you are already stocking from the big box chains. Flavor combinations are a little fancier (like our Cardamom Coconut),but the goal is to squeeze every little bit of flavor out using the best ingredients you can find.

Take strawberry for example. Natural Strawberries are tart and sweet. If you were to make a jam, the acid that makes strawberries tart is cooked out in the process. What can you do to amp up the flavor of your now mostly sweet strawberries? Maybe you want to try a little bitter with your sweet and add some orange peel. Ta-da! GOURMET JAM!

Now don't mistake, artisanal is different from gourmet, at least in our experience, and usually not for the better . (Check out this video of kids trying out artisanal ice cream by Huffington Post

Maybe some chefs are so bored with their food they need to make crazy Frankenstein flavors like avocado-mint ice cream and strawberry balsamic coffee cake. These products can be alive with flavor, but it's often hard to tell what exactly is in it.

Gourmet is about layering and enhancing flavor so you can experience them at their peak. More flavor for your money is what it's all about. While you may impress your guests with letter-press labeled sriracha-blueberry bagels, chances are you will also mystify their taste buds. Go for "Wow!" by trying out gourmet foods that have three or fewer ingredients. The experience will be well worth it.

Do you really need $7 Strawberry-Orange Jam on your toast every morning? That depends. Will you slather on an extra teaspoon of big-box jelly in an effort to add extra flavor? For some people the trade is worth it every day, for others it's a way to get more value for special occasions. However you choose to gourmet try local markets first. The producers are often the people manning the booth and would LOVE the chance to chat with a discerning customer like yourself!

So, gourmet cotton candy. Whether it's for a gift or something you want to stock on the regular, Sky Candy is all about the ultimate balance of flavor fun with quality and value. Shop our store to see what seasonal sensations are available, and feel safe knowing that is tastes EXACTLY like what it is supposed to. Get 20% off your first flavor destination by emailing with the subject line GOURMET.
